About

I am a PhD Candidate in the Web Information Systems (WIS) group at Delft University of Technology, supervised by Dr. Jie Yang, Dr. Himanshu Verma, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Geert-Jan Houben. My research is part of the TACIT project and is conducted in collaboration with the National Library of the Netherlands (KB), including Ted van der Togt.

My work focuses on improving access to non-textual digital content for blind and visually impaired users. I investigate how large vision-language models can generate personalized and trustworthy descriptions of images such as illustrations, maps, and diagrams. Through co-creation with blind and visually impaired individuals, this research aims to develop solutions that are technically capable, usable, and meaningful in real reading contexts.

Before starting my PhD, I completed my HBO degree at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, followed by a bridging programme and MSc at Delft University of Technology under the supervision of Dr. Jie Yang. This path shaped my interest in creating practical, real-world solutions by combining my hands-on technical background with the academic perspective I continue to develop in my PhD research.
