Achilleas Psyllidis is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the area of Spatial Data Science within the Web Information Systems group at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), concentrating on urban analytics. He is also Research Fellow of the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS), leading the Social Urban Data Lab (SUDL). His expertise lies in the areas of GeoComputation, statistical spatial analysis, and GIScience, with applications in urban and regional contexts. His current research focus is on the application of machine learning and neural networks to spatial data analysis and modelling of issues pertaining to human mobility, transportation, and social area analysis. He designs and develops novel methods and tools for dynamic geo-social data enrichment, integration, analysis, and visualisation. He has co-developed SocialGlass, a web-based platform for (real-time) urban data visualisation and analytics. Moreover, he is the developer of the OSMoSys platform for linked data and ontology visualization and browsing.

He holds a PhD degree in Spatial Data Science from Delft University of Technology, having received prestigious scholarships from the A. S. Onassis Foundation, the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), and the European Social Fund of the EU, as well as individual research grants from the Foundation for Education and European Culture, and the A. G. Leventis Foundation. His dissertation investigated the impact of emerging and heterogeneous social urban data on the understanding of urban dynamics. The focus was specifically on the spatiotemporal dynamics of human activity in cities, as inferred from different sources of urban data such as social media, sensors, and mobile phones. He also holds a Postgraduate Master's degree (MPhil) -- summa cum laude -- in Spatial Planning, as well as a Professional Diploma (Dipl. Eng.) -- summa cum laude -- in Architectural Engineering, from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His research on urban data integration and interlinkage has been awarded the 1st Prize for Linked Open Data for Smart Cities (2015).
