Mónica Marrero

Researcher Engineer at the Web Information Systems group of the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS/EWI), Delft University of Technology.

Within the Delft Data Science initiative, I work in the development of research-based solutions that can make a difference for research and education in data science and technology. Currently, I am developing an A/B testing framework to run online experiments in Information Retrieval.

I graduated in Computer Science (University of La Laguna, Spain), and also in Library Science (University Carlos III of Madrid). My PhD, obtained in 2013 from the University Carlos III of Madrid, is focused on Named Entity Extraction. Right after that, I worked for more than three years in the National Supercomputing Center in Barcelona. I participated in several private and public projects related to text retrieval (in the area of Smart Cities and Security), which involved the use of Big Data technologies.

During my career I have acquired more than 600 hours of teaching experience, and published over 30 papers (Google Scholar). I have also participated in 6 projects as researcher and technical leader (2 Private, 2 National and 2 European projects), and I serve as reviewer for several journals and top conferences.
